The 3rd Fusion HPC Workshop, hosted by our Fusion group and sponsored by the FusionCAT project, was organized as an online event on December 15-16, 2022. As in the previous two editions in 2020 and 2021, the workshop was devoted to computer applications using High Performance Computing (HPC) in the field of fusion research. This year, the workshop attracted a total of 171 registrations from 41 countries all over the world.

Fusion Group joins local students at first-ever CASE Open Day
Thirty students from Barcelona universities joined researchers from BSC’s Computer Applications of Science and Engineering (CASE) department in late November to discuss opportunities at the BSC and in science and engineering more broadly at the first edition of CASE Open Day.
The goal of the event, organized by the CASE department equality commission Equity4CASE, was two-fold: first, to engage with local students and encourage them to apply for positions at the BSC upon graduating, and to promote and give visibility to the work of women researchers within the CASE department.
FusionCAT Project “Final” Meeting
With a two-day event, the closure of the FusionCAT project has taken place. FusionCAT involved seven regional institutions from Catalonia devoted to developing industrial skills and achieving fusion energy and has been co-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program 2014-2020, with the support of Generalitat de Catalunya.
Fusenet European Fusion Teacher Day 2022
The 3rd edition of the Fusion Teacher Day took place on the 14th of October. This event is organized by Fusenet and its goal is to promote fusion science and technology among European secondary school students. Our group collaborated in this edition with the participation of Dani Gallart.
Our group at the European Researchers’ Night
The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event, which brings research and researchers closer to the public and showcases its impact on citizens’ daily lives in a fun and inspiring way. The European Researchers’ Night attracts each year more than 1 million visitors in Europe and beyond.
All types of public, from schools, families and children to young people or adults of all ages, can learn about and participate in the science of their territory through different activities such as workshops, talks, shows, experiments, astronomical observations and games.
The European Night of Research is a European scientific dissemination project promoted by the European Commission within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions of the Horizon Europe program.
Plasma community celebrates a year of fusion breakthroughs at 48th EPS Plasma Conference
Fusion Group members Tomas Bensadon and Adriana Ghiozzi participated in the 48th edition of the European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics. The event was held online due to continued concerns about the pandemic but featured a lively and fruitful dialogue nevertheless, with 612 attendees joining from countries both within and outside of Europe.
