Hosting a visitor from Culham Centre for Fusion Energy

Last week our group welcomed David Taylor for a two week visit to BSC. David comes the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE), the UK’s national laboratory for fusion research based at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire. It is owned and operated by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).

David Taylor is a physics modeller with experience in plasma physics and nuclear fusion. His main work is based in creating, maintaining and running analysis codes on the JET experiment. In particular, he focuses on equilibrium codes (EFIT, FIESTA), neutron modelling codes (MCNP, Serpent), and aspects of the JET post-shot analysis suites such as the second data processing chain, CHAIN 2.

His visit is intended to facilitate an update of the CHAIN 2 part of the PION code, a task that David Taylor and our group leader Dr. Mervi Mantsinen are carrying out.
