The 27th International Conference on Magnet Technology (MT27) was held at Fukuoka International Congress Center, Fukuoka, Japan and online from November 15 to 19, 2021.
Our colleague José Lorenzo participated in the conference and presented a poster entitled “Homogenization of Winding Pack Properties for the Structural Analysis of Fusion Magnets” on the work he developed in our group within his prestigious EUROfusion Engineering Grant (EEG).
The year 2021 is coming to its end and it is time for us to take a small break to disconnect, rest and celebrate. We would like to thank all our followers for their continued interest in our work.
For us here at the BSC Fusion group it has been a good year despite being still affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in our daily lives, including our work.
BSC celebrated its Annual Meeting 2021 on Friday the 17th of December. The meeting has now become a tradition at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), providing a stage for all BSC researchers to share their wonderful work with their co-workers. For second year in a row, and due to the global pandemic, the event was hosted online with on-site talks.
The 16th International Conference of MULTIPHYSICS 2021 took place virtually on 9th and 10th December 2021. Our BSC Fusion Group contributed to the event, which was attended by more than 50 participants from 15 countries from all over the world.
The 2nd Fusion HPC Workshop took place in the online format on December, 2nd and 3rd, with 217 registered participants from 31 countries all over the world. The event was organized by our Fusion group and Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) under the auspices of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) and in close collaboration with the international programme committee with several experts from our collaborator institutions.
The workshop covered all computer applications using High Performance Supercomputing (HPC) in the field of fusion research, giving an overview of the overall state of the research of the large scale fusion projects such as ITER and EUROfusion, as well as of the specific and most common lines of the research of fusion phenomena simulations (energy and particle transport, multi-physics modelling, plasma processes, heating, fueling and current drive, laser-plasma interactions, scenario development and control, fusion reactor materials, fusion reactor technology, etc.).
