Abstract submission is now open for the 5th Fusion HPC Workshop!

It is our pleasure to host the 5th Fusion HPC Workshop as an online event on November 21-22, 2024.

This workshop follows the virtual 4th Fusion HPC Workshop, which took place on November 29-30, 2023, and attracted 385 registrations worldwide.

This workshop covers all computer applications using High Performance Computing (HPC) in the field of fusion research. These include, but are not limited to, numerical simulations for Fusion physics, technology and materials in the following areas:

  • Energy and particle transport
  • Multi-physics and Multi-scale analyses and modelling
  • Turbulence and related transport processes
  • Hydrodynamics, including linear, nonlinear and/or extended MHD
  • Plasma instabilities
  • Edge and plasma-material interactions
  • Heating, fueling and current drive
  • Laser-plasma interactions
  • Fast particle physics and burning plasma issues
  • Scenario development and control
  • Materials under irradiation
  • Nuclear fuel cycle systems analysis (Tritium modelling)
  • Deterministic, Monte Carlo and hybrid methods developments
  • System Analyses

The workshop’s language will be in English, and it will be open to all.

We invite you to submit your work as an invited or contributed presentation to this workshop. The abstract submission opened on June 10, 2024, and will close on September 15, 2024 at 1pm CEST. More information can be found in our Abstract Submissions page.

Following the success of last year, early career scientists will once again have the opportunity to receive feedback from expert reviewers and qualify for the recognition we give to outstanding presentations.

Similar to the process for last year’s Special Issue in Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion journal, selected presentations will be invited, by mutual agreement, to submit a journal paper after the workshop to a special issue published in Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion (IOP).

For more information please visit the workshop website https://hpcfusion.bsc.es/

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the workshop!

  1. Dear Sir/Ma’am,
I hope you are doing well. I am Umar Draz. I have started my Master’s in Nuclear Science and Technology at Sun Yat-sen University China. I want to participate as an online attendee in the 5th Fusion HPC Workshop because I aim to do my research in Nuclear Technology and Fusion plasma. I got to know about this event today as I was not communicated before. I would like it if you could help me in this regard.
