Attending PUMPS+AI 2025: Advancing Skills in Massively Parallel Programming and AI

From July 14th to 18th, 2025, the 15th ACM Europe Summer School on Programming and Tuning Massively Parallel Systems + Artificial Intelligence (PUMPS+AI) took place at UPC Campus Nord in Barcelona. This prestigious event brought together researchers, graduate students, and instructors from around the world to explore the latest advances in massively parallel computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

M. Augusto Maidana Silanes, member of the Fusion Group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), had the opportunity to attend this year’s edition. The school provided an exceptional environment to gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in programming for many-core processors and GPU accelerators, with a special emphasis on AI applications.

BSC’s Fusion Group at Mobile World Congress 2025

Mobile World Congress (MWC25), one of the world’s leading technology events, closed on 6 March after four days of ground-breaking innovations and discussions about the future of technology. As in previous editions of the event, the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) had a major presence, showcasing its latest research and pioneering technologies.

As part of MWC, BSC hosted a 100m² stand in 4YFN (Four Years From Now), the dedicated space for tech startups. Throughout the event, the BSC stand served as a dynamic hub for researchers, investors and companies, hosting a packed agenda of conferences and presentations. The Fusion Group’s participation underlined BSC’s commitment to cutting-edge research and its contribution to the quest for sustainable energy solutions.

BSC hosts the annual EUROfusion HPC ACHs meeting

From 27 to 28 November, our Fusion Group had the honor of hosting the 2nd Annual Meeting of the EUROfusion HPC Advanced Computing Hubs (ACHs) at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Spain. After a successful virtual first meeting, this event marked a significant return to in-person collaboration, bringing together around 29 researchers, 26 attending in person and 3 connecting virtually, from the five Hub centers: BSC-CIEMAT (Spain), EPFL (Switzerland), IPPLM (Poland), IPP Garching (Germany), and VTT (Finland).
