The ITER Business Forum 2025 (IBF) was held during 23rd–25th April in the sunny city of Marseille, France. This Forum is designed to attract the global industry involved in the realization of fusion energy, from the supply chain to companies and startups. This is a great opportunity to connect and explore new collaborations in the industry ecosystem.
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center participated with representatives of the Fusion Group: Mervi Mantsinen, Federico Cipolletta, and Dani Gallart. Moreover, BSC members Andrés José Román from the Innovation and Business Development department, and Mario Ejarque and Sara Ibáñez from the Communications department, also participated, providing support in several relevant aspects. Special mention to María Paz Baghetti, our Dissemination Officer, who coordinated the preparations of our participation to the event.
The BSC participated with a booth during these 3 days, where the capabilities of the centre were presented, from the supercomputing resources with the new MareNostrum 5 to all the modelling capabilities, especially those related to fusion energy. The BSC held numerous B2B meetings with different companies and startups, who were interested in our capabilities.

This was a great event that enhanced our possibilities to connect directly with the industry. We had the chance to show our modelling capabilities to key players in the industry regarding many important aspects of fusion development, such as the modelling of several parts of fusion reactors: plasma, high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets, CFD simulation of coolant, and neutron transport and its impact on materials (temperature and stress). Moreover, we also presented our latest capabilities in AI — note that BSC is the host of one of the seven European AI Factories. Our tools can be used to design, optimize, and study fusion reactors, which is highly relevant for companies and startups involved in the construction of fusion devices.
