Mobile World Congress (MWC25), one of the world’s leading technology events, closed on 6 March after four days of ground-breaking innovations and discussions about the future of technology. As in previous editions of the event, the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) had a major presence, showcasing its latest research and pioneering technologies.
As part of MWC, BSC hosted a 100m² stand in 4YFN (Four Years From Now), the dedicated space for tech startups. Throughout the event, the BSC stand served as a dynamic hub for researchers, investors and companies, hosting a packed agenda of conferences and presentations. The Fusion Group’s participation underlined BSC’s commitment to cutting-edge research and its contribution to the quest for sustainable energy solutions.
BSC’s Fusion Group Takes Center Stage
On Thursday 6 March, the BSC’s Fusion Group played a key role in presenting its progress in developing a digital twin of a fusion reactor. Dr. Dani Gallart, a researcher from the Fusion Group, gave a presentation entitled “Alya4Fusion: Towards a Fusion Reactor Digital Twin”, which addressed the energy and climate crisis, the importance of clean energy and the latest developments in nuclear fusion technology, including the ITER project.
The presentation highlighted the development of the Alya4Fusion model, a key tool for simulating and understanding the complex processes of fusion. In addition, Fusion Group researchers Augusto Maidana and Pau Manyer contributed throughout the event by further disseminating the group’s progress.

BSC at MWC25: A Showcase of Innovation
In addition to the Fusion Group, BSC showcased other disruptive technologies at MWC25, including advances in quantum computing, AI for health and sustainability, and innovative language models. The BSC stand also hosted investor meetings and presentations from 10 spin-off companies.
MWC25 was a resounding success for BSC, reinforcing its position as a leader in supercomputing and disruptive technologies on the European stage.
We look forward to seeing you at the next edition, scheduled for 2-5 March 2026 in Barcelona.
