The visit was part of ICMAB\u2019s annual initiative to organize group excursions to research centers of interest in their field, and this year\u2019s destination was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/\">Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC),<\/a> motivated by ongoing collaborations with our group.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The visit began with a presentation by Dani Gallart<\/strong>, titled <em>&#8220;Computer Applications &amp; Fusion at BSC&#8221;<\/em>, where he briefly introduced the history and mission of our group, highlighting the role of advanced computational methods in fusion research, as well as the interdisciplinary collaborations and key scientific challenges that drive the group\u2019s work. Dani also outlined the group\u2019s core research areas, including plasma modelling and heating, neutronics studies for breeding blanket design, and multiphysics simulations for fusion applications. The talk concluded with an overview of in-house developments such as <a href=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/index.php\/2025\/04\/22\/alya4fusion-at-the-51st-iop-annual-plasma-physics-conference\/\">Alya4fusion<\/a>, a digital twin platform for magnetic confinement fusion devices.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93075\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93075\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-93075\" src=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/icmabvis1-400x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/icmabvis1-400x225.jpg 400w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/icmabvis1-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/icmabvis1-1536x863.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/icmabvis1.jpg 1780w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93075\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dani&#8217;s talk.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The delegation then took part in a guided tour of BSC\u2019s facilities<\/strong>, where they had the opportunity to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/marenostrum\/marenostrum-5\">MareNostrum 5<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/news\/bsc-news\/bsc-presents-the-first-quantum-computer-spain-developed-100-european-technology\">MareNostrum Ona<\/a>. Moreover, the group had the opportunity to address their questions about these cutting-edge infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Overall, the visit strengthened ties between the two research groups.
