The measurements broaden the knowledge of the thermal flow distribution of first-wall components, which is a critical issue of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iter.org\/\">ITER<\/a><\/strong> experiments. The <strong>error field coils<\/strong> mimicked the effects of the inaccuracies of the future superconducting coils, which is a unique ability. Continuous improvement accompanied the operation. Such as a <strong>1 MW<\/strong> powered <strong>plasma heating<\/strong> system was installed, with promising results for new operating modes, in recent times. Several new diagnostics were installed and operated, such as<strong> ball-pen probe<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>atomic beam probe<\/strong>, as an opportunity for novel techniques.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The last discharge at the COMPASS tokamak\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/86gT8JdwsMw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From COMPASS, an excellent scientific community has emerged and actively participated in European fusion education. Over the years, numerous summer and winter schools as well as training programmes (e.g. <strong>SUMTRAIC<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.em-master-fusion.org\/\"><strong>FUSION-EP master programme<\/strong><\/a>) were organised at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipp.cas.cz\/\">COMPASS<\/a><\/strong>. The events had more than 300 attendees from more than 30 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the closure of COMPASS, however, the scientific activity in fusion will not cease in Prague. The whole experimental infrastructure will be upgraded for the next device, for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipp.cas.cz\/vedecka_struktura_ufp\/tokamak\/compass_u\/\"><strong>COMPASS Upgrade<\/strong><\/a>, in the next years. The new tokamak will be able to reach extremely high magnetic fields, up to 5 tesla.
