The workshop covers all computer applications using High Performance Supercomputing (HPC) in the field of fusion research. These include, but are not limited to, numerical simulations in the following areas:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Energy and particle transport<\/li>\n<li>Multi-physics modelling<\/li>\n<li>Plasma turbulence and related transport processes<\/li>\n<li>Plasma hydrodynamics including linear, nonlinear and\/or extended MHD<\/li>\n<li>Plasma instabilities<\/li>\n<li>Edge and plasma-material interactions<\/li>\n<li>Heating, fueling and current drive<\/li>\n<li>Laser-plasma interactions<\/li>\n<li>Fast particle physics and burning plasma issues<\/li>\n<li>Scenario development and control<\/li>\n<li>Fusion reactor materials<\/li>\n<li>Fusion reactor technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop is organized under the auspices of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.res.es\/en\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES)<\/a>. The language of the workshop will be in\u00a0English and it will be open to all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme will include\u00a0of <strong>three plenary talks<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alberto Loarte (ITER Organization)<\/strong> Modelling needs to support the ITER Research Plan and role of HPC<\/li>\n<li><strong>Susana Clement (F4E)<\/strong> Role of HPC in Broader Approach Activities in Fusion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xavier Litaudon (EUROfusion)<\/strong> EUROfusion E-TASC Programme and HPC role within it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There will also be <a href=\"https:\/\/hpcfusion.bsc.es\/2020\/author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">invited and contributed orals<\/a>. <strong>The abstract submission for invited talks and contributed orals opens on 17\u00a0July 2020 and closes on 15 September 2020 through <a href=\"https:\/\/hpcfusion.bsc.es\/2020\/abstract\">this link<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To register to the event, please follow <a href=\"https:\/\/hpcfusion.bsc.es\/2020\/registration\">this link.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Selected presentations will be invited<\/strong>, by mutual agreement, <strong>to submit a journal paper after the workshop to a special issue published in <a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/journal\/0741-3335\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion (IOP)<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are looking forward to welcoming you to the workshop!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is our pleasure to organize the 1st Spanish Fusion HPC Workshop as an online event with Zoom on 27 November 2020.
