We are excited to announce that we will host a webinar on the\u00a0DEMO Oriented Neutron Source (DONES)<\/strong> project given by Dr \u00c1ngel Ibarra,<\/strong> the Director of the Division for Fusion Technologies at Laboratorio Nacional de Fusi\u00f3n<\/a>, CIEMAT, Madrid (Spain) and the EUROfusion<\/a> Work Package Early Neutron Source Definition and Design Project Leader.<\/p>\n

Abstract<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The European Fusion Roadmap<\/strong><\/a> has identified as a key step a high intensity fusion-like neutron source for the qualification of materials<\/strong>. The targeted environment needs to be similar to the one in a fusion reactor in order to drive the design and the licensing of the future Demonstration Reactor<\/strong><\/a> (DEMO)<\/strong>. At the European level, this need has pushed the development of a neutron source based on the Li(d,nx) stripping reaction called DONES<\/a><\/strong> (DEMO Oriented Neutron Source). Recently, Granada<\/strong> (Spain) has been chosen as the reference site<\/strong> in case the facility is built in Europe.<\/p>\n

In this presentation, EUROfusion Work Package Early Neutron Source Definition and Design<\/em> Project Leader Dr Ibarra<\/strong> will discuss the project together with its present status and near-future plans<\/strong>. Special emphasis is devoted to the opportunities and technologies required<\/strong> for the DONES construction and development.<\/p>\n
