IPP is a leading institute in Europe for both theoretical and experimental studies of fusion plasmas, equipped with two state-of-the-art fusion experimental devices, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipp.mpg.de\/16195\/asdex\">ASDEX Upgrade (AUG)<\/a> tokamak and the world\u2019s largest stellarator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipp.mpg.de\/w7x\">Wendelstein 7-X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With this research stay, Allah Rakha fulfilled the mobility part of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.em-fusion-dc.org\/\">Joint Erasmus Mundus PhD (FUSION-DC) program<\/a> between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upc.edu\/en\">Polytechnic University of Catalonia<\/a> (UPC, Barcelona, Spain) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ugent.be\/en\">the Gent University<\/a> (UGent, Belgium).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stationed at IPP Garching near Munich, he worked on three-dimensional helical core magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium reconstructions for ASDEX Upgrade and studied the effect of the helical plasma core on shear Alfv\u00e9n wave continuum spectrum. The research was carried out in close collaboration with <strong>Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Ph_Lauber\">Philipp Lauber<\/a><\/strong> (IPP) under the supervision of <strong>Prof. Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/biblio.ugent.be\/person\/801000647836\">Jean-Marie Noterdaeme<\/a><\/strong> (IPP &amp; UGent).
