The 45th European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics<\/a> took place in Prague, Czech Republic<\/strong>, from the 2nd to the 6th of July, 2018. It is the largest annual conference in the field organized in Europe. This year the conference attracted a record number of more than 850 registered participants<\/strong> throughout the world. Our group leader Prof. Mervi Mantsinen chaired the magnetic confinement fusion plasma section of the Program Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year our group members Mervi Mantsinen <\/strong>and Allah Rakha<\/strong> participated in the conference.<\/p>\n Mervi Mantsinen presented a poster entitled \u201cModelling of ICRF heating in ASDEX Upgrade discharges with pure wave heating relevant to the ITER baseline scenario\u201d <\/em>while Allah Rakha’s poster was entitled \u201cModelling of Alfv\u00e9n cascades in NBI heated stellarator plasmas\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Mantsinen co-authored five further contributions:<\/p>\n The contributed papers are available through the online conference proceedings\u00a0<\/a>while papers resulting from invited and plenary talks will be published in a special issue of the journal Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusio<\/a>n later this year.<\/p>\n Next year, the conference will take place in Milan<\/a>, Italy, co-organized by the University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) and the Institute for Plasma Physics of CNR (IFP-CNR).<\/p>\n We look forward to seeing you in Milan next year!<\/p>\n The 45th European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics took place in Prague, Czech Republic, from the 2nd to the 6th of July, 2018.
