{"id":2749,"date":"2018-04-27T20:48:52","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T18:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/?p=2749"},"modified":"2018-04-27T20:48:52","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T18:48:52","slug":"code-development-at-integrated-fusion-modelling-code-camp-at-poznan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/index.php\/2018\/04\/27\/code-development-at-integrated-fusion-modelling-code-camp-at-poznan\/","title":{"rendered":"Code Development at Integrated Fusion Modelling Code Camp at Poznan"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_2744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2744\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2744\" src=\"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/pcss.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/pcss.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/pcss-400x244.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PSNC), Poland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>From the 3rd to the 13th of April, our fusion group has participated in the Code Camp<\/strong> of the EUROfusion \u201c<em>Code Development for Integrated Modelling&#8221;<\/em> (WPCD) Work Package at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.man.poznan.pl\/online\/en\/\">Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre<\/a> (PSNC), Poznan, Poland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WPCD develops generic and flexible sophisticated workflows for physics applications, aiming at providing a validated modular suite for the simulation of complete plasma discharges of any existing and future tokamak, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euro-fusion.org\/devices\/jet\/\">JET<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jt60sa.org\/b\/index.htm\">JT-60SA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iter.org\">ITER<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/fusionforenergy.europa.eu\/understandingfusion\/demo.aspx\">DEMO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2743\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2743\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2743\" src=\"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/poznan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/poznan.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/poznan-400x172.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2743\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Poznan, Poland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The activities performed at the Code Camp were in line with the main 2018 WPCD\u00a0 milestones, namely the adaptation of codes and released workflows to <span class=\"st\">the ITER Integrated Modelling &amp; Analysis Suite (IMAS)<em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/span>and specifically the demonstration of a core plasma workflow in IMAS, turbulence and synthetic diagnostics workflow, as well as the prototyping of control workflows. <span class=\"st\">IMAS will support both plasma operation and research activities on the ITER tokamak experiment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Xavier S\u00e1ez and Mervi Mantsinen worked in the PION integration into IMAS Kepler workflow<\/strong>. In the meetings, it was decided what the inputs\/outputs to\/from PION are used to integrate it into the Heating and Current Drive (HCD) workflow. This was a necessary step to create a PION actor for the HCD workflow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Albert Guti\u00e9rrez continued the development of his EUROfusion Engineering Grant project <\/strong>in close interaction with the PSNC members of the WPCD Core Programming Team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Edgar Olivares supported Albert&#8217;s work and started a collaboration based on ASCOT code<\/strong>, a Monte Carlo code for fast particles in tokamak plasmas.
