It \u00a0is the largest annual conference in the field organized in Europe, with more than 600 delegates each year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year our group members <strong>Mervi Mantsinen, Shimpei Futatani and Nathan Oliveira de Lopes participated in the conference<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2139\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2139\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2139\" src=\"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/MERVI_EPS2017-e1499339140825.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/MERVI_EPS2017-e1499339140825.jpg 2134w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/MERVI_EPS2017-e1499339140825-400x245.jpg 400w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/MERVI_EPS2017-e1499339140825-1024x627.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2139\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mervi Mantsinen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mervi<\/strong> gave a talk entitled <em>\u201cOptimising the use of ICRF waves in JET hybrid plasmas for high fusion yield\u201d<\/em> and <strong>Shimpei<\/strong> and <strong>Nathan<\/strong> presented posters entitled <em><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Non-linear MHD Simulations of Pellet Triggered ELM for ITER Plasma Scenarios\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cNonlinear electromagnetic stabilization of ITG microturbulence by ICRF-driven fast ions in ASDEX Upgrade\u201d<\/em>, respectively.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2140\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2140\" style=\"width: 340px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2140\" src=\"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170629_153803328-e1499413306826.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"412\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2140\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shimpei Futatani.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our group members also co-authored further four contributions from JET and AUG, i.e.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Sergei Sharapov et al., <em>&#8220;The effects of electron cyclotron resonance heating and current drive on toroidal Alfven eigenmodes in tokamak plasmas&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Joelle Mailloux et al, <em>&#8220;Plasma preparation for alpha-particle excitation of TAEs in JET DT plasmas&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Clive Challis et al, <em>\u201cImpact of neon seeding on fusion performance in JET ILW hybrid plasmas\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Jon Hillesheim et al. <em>\u201cL-H transition studies in hydrogen and mixed ion species plasmas in JET\u201d.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference proceeding papers\u00a0will appear in due time online\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ocs.ciemat.es\/EPS2017PAP\/html\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Next year, the conference will take place in Prague, Czech Republic. <strong>Mervi<\/strong> will be closely involved in its preparation as she will chair the magnetic confinement fusion sub-group of the Programme Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>We look forward to seeing you in Prague next year!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 44th European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from the 26th to the 30th of June, 2017.
