This course is designed to offer the students an comprehensive overview on key topics in Fusion Technology, delivered by specialist lecturers from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fusionforenergy.europa.eu\/\">F4E<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/fusionsites.ciemat.es\/home\/\">CIEMAT<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www-cadarache.cea.fr\/gb\/activites\/fusion\/\">CEA<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipp.mpg.de\/\">IPP<\/a>, UPC and BSC\/Fusion group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-more-tag mce-wp-more\" title=\"Read more...\" data-wp-more=\"more\" data-wp-more-text=\"\" data-mce-placeholder=\"1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1988\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1988\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1988 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/upc_ei.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/upc_ei.png 750w, https:\/\/fusion.bsc.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/upc_ei-400x248.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1988\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The course was organized at the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Three members of our fusion group have given the following lectures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 17th May, <strong>Shimpei Futatani<\/strong> gave a lecture entitled <em>&#8220;Introduction to the MHD dynamics in fusion plasmas&#8221;<\/em> focused on turbulences in fusion plasmas and the use of pellet injection in order to mitigate Edge Localized Modes (ELMs) which are magnetohydrodynamics instabilities at the plasma boundary.<br \/>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 26th May, <strong>Mervi Mantsinen<\/strong> gave a lecture entitled <em>&#8220;Ion Cyclotron Resonance Frequency (ICRF) Heating in Fusion Plasmas&#8221;<\/em> focused on the use of electromagnetic waves in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies for plasma heating and current drive in fusion devices.<br \/>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">On 31st May, <strong>Xavier S\u00e1ez<\/strong> gave a lecture entitled <em>&#8220;Simulation codes in Fusion Technology&#8221; <\/em>focused on the role of High Performance Computing in fusion research.
