Meeting of High Level Support Team


On 6 October 2016, our Fusion group member Xavier Sáez visited the Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany, to participate in the meeting of the EUROfusion High Level Support Team (HLST).

Xavier has presented the work developed in the group to improve the performance of SFINCS code. This code is a novel drift-kinetic solver which can be used to predict neoclassical flows in 3D magnetic configurations.

Plasma Conference At The Misty Mountain

In the week from 5th to 8th of September, the Fusion group member Felipe Nathan participated in the 21th Joint EU-US Transport Task Force Meeting, held in Leysin, Switzerland. The meeting gathered scientists from different parts of the world in the field of Thermonuclear Plasma Transport, mostly turbulent transport, and  share their successes and failures, in order to strengthen and uplift the scientific pursuit of Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion.

Master’s Thesis Defense

Our Fusion group member, Carles Riera, successfully presented his Master thesis, titled: “Development of a Deterministic Neutron Transport Code Based on the Alya System at Barcelona Supercomputing Center”, based on the work he has been carrying out since last February. The oral exposition took place at the Faculty of Sciences of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
